Gil Bartz, born in Northern Germany, is a freelance photographer and cinematographer based in Berlin. After completing his studies in 2002, he started working in the television industry as a camera–assistant. In 2007 he quit his job to become a cinematographer.

He studied Cinematography at the University for Film and Television “Konrad Wolf” in Potsdam – Babelsberg, and graduated in 2012. He has been working as a freelance photographer since 2015.

For the last two years, he has been travelling through the Ukraine, Azerbaijan, and Russia working on personal photo projects.

"This portfolio represents my personal work, it’s about the people I’ve met on my travels by chance. When I started my trip I never thought about what I would like to capture. I just let it happen. Drifting like this, I felt lucky about every coincidence and new experience. When I first started my travels, I shot in black and white film, carrying around countless film rolls. Since then, I have switched to a digital camera taking pictures mainly in colour. The fact that it’s taken six years to get where I am now and the fact that I have seen so little does not matter to me. Things take time."

Nici Theuerkauf is an interior and people stylist based in Berlin, Hamburg and Düsseldorf who works with renowned photographers in the field of film and photography. She also works as a set designer and develops concepts for trade fairs and shop windows, always facing the challenge to present state-of-the-art ideas.

Every year Nici is responsible for the decoration concept of the Electrolux at the IFA in Berlin and is already planning for Eurocucina in Milan. Recently, Nici worked with photographer Ruben Riermeier for Kaufland and with Agency Stammgestalter for Panasonic.

Featured in this Showcase is her current work, she collaborated with The Gaabs agency for the Meissen campaign and photographer Robin Kater for Montblanc.

Julien Barbès is a fashion photographer, born and raised in Montreal, Canada. He studied commercial photography and started his career assisting several reputable fashion photographers around the world.

He has a sensitive eye for patterns, light and colour, giving rise to minimalistic image with an intricate twist and a distinct architectural feel. Julien Barbès is currently based in Berlin.

Adventure, adrenaline and anything that gets her outside her door and comfort zone at all hours of the day or night, is what Jessica Zumpfe lives for.

She focuses on people outdoors, capturing authentic moments and emotions. When she gets to shoot hanging underneath a helicopter or abseiling down a wind turbine, she finally feels in her element. Having grown up between the mountain and the sea in Cape Town, she still keeps this as a base and playground for the darker winter months.

Jessica Zumpfe spent years assisting big advertising photographers. She has now accumulated a substantial list of international clients with whom she gets to overcome new challenges in both of her passions - sports and photography.
