Allan Trolle Copenhagen

"Neither photography or art has been part of my upbringing. Photography was something that came to me, on a trip to Scotland. After returning home, the joy was fantastic when I finally saw the pictures. That became a milestone in my life.

At the Media College Denmark in Viborg I was surrounded by some incredible inspiring teachers who taught me the passion for the craft of photography. Care and respect for the image became my driving force. It became four educational years.

The driving force remains the same today. It is still the craft that makes beautiful images, where light and details are what matters to me. Every day I let myself be inspired by talented photographers around the world, to seek new knowledge and keep myself updated in the world of photography.

I am fortunate to work with competent people on assignments for customers like LEGO, Lidl Denmark, Scandic-Hotels, Aller, Turbine Publisher, VPG, Tina Munkholm, Madhimlen, Aros Food Hall, Housedoctor, Arla and BKI-Foods."

Brian McDougall Miami

"Because no two people experience an image the same way, photography is at its core, impossible to talk about. Yet we are told to believe everything around us is good: images invade our minds constantly. While the demand for new pictures has never been higher, the advent of Instagram, etc., has driven down the value to almost nothing. Literally everyone is a photographer now, so a 'professional' has a problem being noticed, let alone finding paying clients.

My experience in photography began on the computer: I learned Photoshop early on, and got hooked. I was forced to teach myself how to use a DSLR through self preservation: I needed better images to edit. To this day everything I shoot is a means to an end: the payoff is the post-production work, where I get to study the nuance of light and colour up close. I’m fascinated by the play of light, whether natural or artificial, which makes still life and product photography a natural fit for me.

I love to photograph people too, but always in the service of creating an interesting image, as opposed to discovering some “truth” about the subject. I don’t believe cameras have the ability to record truth; for the simple fact that a mechanical lens and sensor records only data, and truth requires interpretation.

I create images that please me. And I hope they might please others, or at least get enough attention that my clients return, which they seem to year after year. I charge what my clients think is fair. I’m not represented by an agent, and I mostly work alone, which allows me to keep production costs low. I’m available to discuss rates and ideas: I live in Miami Beach, FL, USA: 305-519-7764."

Thomas Rohde London

"Hello! I’m a London-based photographer specialising in graphic still life. After the obligatory post-college backpacking, and a short stint bartending in New York City, I made London my home from my native Copenhagen in 2002 to study photography at the University of the Arts, London.

I’m at my happiest when faced with a new object to photograph and the challenge that lies in transforming it into a highly desirable object; the process of tweaking the lighting setup just so to reveal the texture and shape of the object, enhancing its unique and visually interesting features in order to create inspired, luxurious imagery.

I love the entire creative process from initial brief to glossy end product, and I embrace the most up-to-date retouching techniques and CGI (when needed), but I always strive to capture as much as possible in camera as there really is no substitute for the real thing.

My lighting style is crisp and direct in order to achieve a graphic yet balanced composition which, I find, best showcases the object in front of the camera. If I can be of any help realising your next project, please do get in touch and I will be more than happy to discuss any brief in detail or answer any questions you may have."

Tobias Reymond Foto | Film Amsterdam

"Content washed ashore; from animal souls recognised on the endless eastern coasts of Australia to the homeless stills of fruits and vegetables in inner France.

In our daily practice as food photographers, we tend to recognize patterns in the arrangements on the plates we shoot: grimacing peas, a triangle, a worm, you name it. Once a client is aware of such mischief, you’re done. All of a sudden, other creatures may arise in that composition of sweetcorn, carrots and edamé.

Natura Mortis, or still life, often relies on the natural beauty of the product and its subsequent lighting to bring out its texture. Our home economists would choose with great care the best produce they can get, often in various sizes and varieties to play within the strict borders in packaging designs. 'Homeless', a rather dark series shot mainly at dusk, tries to tell a different story."
