Alex Waber is an award-winning photographer with 12 years experience in the fashion industry. He has shot for clients including campaigns for Arcteryx and Aritzia, and was brought in to help rebrand the photography for Shaw Communications in a more fashionable way. With a background in cinematography for advertising and music videos, Alex has a keen eye for dynamic lighting and visual story telling. He loves working hands on with teams of people to create visions, from location scouting and set design to bouncing around different styles of editing to achieve very specific visions after the shoot.
Alex works primarily out of his own studio in Vancouver’s chinatown where he has a workshop to build props and set pieces and work on his own abstract and experimental photography and oil painting, both of which influence his approach to the commercial arts.
Lately Alex has been experimenting with incorporating artificial intelligence in to his work flow, creating photoshoots which are then processed through a trained neural network allowing for unexpected colours and textures or whole new images to emerge.
