With over 12 years experience, Russell Smith uses his art direction background to add value by conceptualising how to push his work and briefs further. Working together with his clients, putting together strong teams, he provides a comprehensive service from brief to final execution. His technical ability and love for good lighting with an attention to detail help him build appetite and story into his food images.
Based in Cape Town where he works both on location and in studio with a well equipped kitchen, he uses both daylight and flash depending on the brief. He has a long list of editorial clients including Women’s Health, Gourmet Traveller (Australia), Marie Claire and Taste Magazine, and his work has been syndicated all over the world.
His commercial clients include Col’cacchio, Le Creuset, Jungle Oats, Parmalat, Sasko, Koi restaurants, Subway, and several well received recipe books with top chefs.
