Seamus Ryan's photography reflects his strong passion for people and the portrait genre. His studio, situated in the heart of Columbia Road Flower Market, has become home to a unique series of projects involving members of the public. Described as a form of ‘photo theatre’, these shoots aim to explore the many possibilities of portraiture.
During the week, Seamus concentrates on a steady flow of advertising and celebrity portrait commissions as well as quirky character work and theatre posters. He has worked on countless national and international campaigns over a 20-year career for a wide variety of national and international clients including The National Theatre, Derren Brown, RNIB, Spitfire Ale, Oxfam, Bloomberg, Guinness, Nike, British Airways and the BBC.
Seamus is also founder and director of The Republic of Photography, an experiential agency specializing in immersive photographic activations. He has been awarded by The Association of Photographers and D&AD and has work included in the National Portrait Gallery's permanent collection.
