    Mission Photo Production

Mission Photo Production offers comprehensive production services for still and moving images, locally and around the world.

The company’s founder Mary Pratt is not only used to switching back and forth between languages - primarily English and German - but, perhaps more importantly, cultures. Having grown up in Switzerland and living in New York for over 17 years, Mary is familiar with the subtle differences between American and European tastes that can be crucial when realising a campaign.

Mission has a lot of experience working locally, within the United States and anywhere in the world (in well over 20 countries on all continents but Antarctica) and has built up a vast trusted network over the years.

While Mary Pratt, founder of Mission Photo Production, frequently works on advertising campaigns and car shoots, she enjoys the diversity that comes with the territory.

Recently, Mission produced photo and film footage for long-time client Daimler/Mercedes in Texas and Oregon, as well as stills for Chevrolet in Detroit and Chicago. In addition, Mission and North South Productions co-produced an ad campaign for Wempe in New York City.

“One of the aspects I love about my career is the variety,” Mary reflects. “No job is alike, and yet each project feeds the next one - often in unpredictable ways. By continuously building upon experiences, I can offer clients a platform on which their concepts and needs can be realised successfully.”

"Producing photo shoots could never be described as monotonous - its challenges are ever changing, and sometimes very refreshing. One day you work with supermodels, the next you are wrangling a group of farmers who are eager to go back to harvesting."

For Weis Markets’ “Your neighbor’s our farmer” campaign, Mission was hired to find a picturesque farm in Pennsylvania and liaise with real farmers who supply the supermarket with produce to gather together for a photo shoot. And the supermodel? Stay tuned - images from the new Wempe campaign, photographed by Bettina Lewin and co-produced with North South Productions in Cape Town, are to be released any day now.

Mission has also been busy with car shoots, with new images for Mercedes photographed in Houston, and Chevrolet shot in Chicago and Detroit.

Mission Photo Production's year started off with several studio jobs and a car shoot. For Mercedes, Mission hit the road for three weeks to produce four separate projects rolled into one: still photography, two editorials, and a film shoot involving the partial closure of an interstate highway. Simon Harsent photographed a trained squirrel for Old English, and Mitya Kushelevich did a series of portraits for Kaspersky, the antivirus software.

“It’s all in the mix”, says Mary Pratt, the founder of Mission Photo Production. “From studio shoots to travel projects; car shoots to working with celebrities; editorial to advertising - we enjoy them all."

Joanne Dugan created a beautifully complex environmental still life for Cetaphil, and Walter Chin snapped a quintessential New York Christmas shopping story with Sonîa Bogner for Bogner.

    Mission Photo Production

It has been a multifaceted summer for Mission Photo Production. For Rolex, a Frank Lloyd Wright jewel in Florida, scouted by Mission, proved to be the perfect backdrop for a portrait of an emerging tennis player. Following this, Mission produced three fashion stories for the venerable German department store Ludwig Beck, photographed by David Burton c/o Brigitta Horvat. Mission also produced an eyewear and watches shoot for Uli Holz and Davidoff, and when Kai-Uwe Gundlach undertook a whirlwind world tour for Smart, Mission orchestrated the New York portion of the shoot.

Mission Photo Production is gearing up for what looks to be a fourth quarter full of exciting challenges. Mary Pratt is approaching the projects on her table with a sharp eye towards the creative needs and the comfort of her clients, while she maintains a healthy respect for the budgetary constraints of current market conditions. Like engineering a bridge with exactly the right amount of steel, there is an art to producing a beautiful campaign with economy. Mary prides herself on this skill.

    New York: Mission Photo Production

"Production," says Mary Pratt, "with all its intricate details, is like assembling puzzle pieces to form one big, beautiful picture. Over and over, I find it to be a wonderful challenge."

Mary is the founder of Mission Photo Production Inc., a New York-based full service production company. Born and raised in Switzerland, she is fluent in several languages and has been producing in New York City and around the world for over 15 years for some of the top photographers, creatives and clients. Her meticulous approach in planning and budgeting is appreciated by plenty of repeat clients, but she is alert to the fact “that things can change in a heartbeat, and so you’ve got to stay flexible and re-think situations constantly.”

Clients include Audi, IBM, Mercedes-Benz, Microsoft, Motorola, Rolex, Smart, UBS and XL Capital.

"We are gearing up for a busy fall," says Mary, "and are excited to be working on so many interesting projects. Stay tuned!"

    Mission Photo Production

Established in 2000, Mission Photo Production under the guidance of Mary Pratt has experience with a broad spectrum of projects. Yet it was a genuine first for Mary to be working with two photographers, Gilles Bensimon and Andrew Dunn, back-to-back on a tandem fashion shoot for Bogner.

It essentially meant producing two jobs that were tied together by the client and the art direction, as well as managing a “behind the scenes” video shoot - short stories being told on in-store screens and also on the Bogner website. As technology and markets are shifting, Mary increasingly finds herself producing moving images and still photography simultaneously.

Mission Photo Production proudly presents Markus Bolsinger's pictures of the Mercedes SLS AMG. The photos were taken in Oregon and are part of a 144-page book that celebrates this future classic.

It is common knowledge that book projects don't have enormous budgets, but Mission was able to pull off the production economically without sacrificing on quality. Thanks to the company's vast experience and a solid network built up over years of working all over the United States and worldwide, Mission's producers are well-versed in making the most out of a client's budget - a vital distinction during this global recession.

Mission has just finished shooting with Markus Bolsinger for Daimler in Oregon, with the brand-new Mercedes SLS AMG (car aficionados will know that this is the re-launched Gullwing).

The shots for the new mobility concept car2go, photographed by Kai-Uwe Gundlach and featured in this Showcase, have caused a huge stir far beyond the auto industry.

    Mission Photo Production

Mary Pratt established Mission Photo Production in New York City in 2000. Mission is a full service production company offering anything from location scouting to casting, budgeting and travel arrangements to clients from all over the world.

Mission began the year with a shoot for Swiss Post with Tom Nagy in below-zero temperatures on Times Square. (And now, under completely different climatic circumstances, she's working with him again, for SAP.) Mary then travelled to Barcelona with Chris Sanders for a beauty client (the images are yet to be published and therefore cannot be shown).

Presently, Mission is wrapping a shoot for an exciting new mobility concept, photographed by another loyal client, Kai-Uwe Gundlach, in New York City. Images to be released in the next issue of Showcase.

    MISSION PHOTO PRODUCTION

Founded by Mary Pratt in 2000, Mission Photo Production Inc. offers full photo production services that are tailored to meet every clients' specific needs.

During car shoots for clients such as Mercedes, Land Rover and Volkswagen, 'specific needs' can range from devising complicated schedules, where cars get swapped between the East and West coasts without having to factor in any costly down-days, to shutting down heavily trafficked bridges or hoisting cars onto rooftops and saltwater-splashed cliffs.

Pratt grew up in Switzerland and is fluent in several languages. She is experienced in handling multi-country shoots, having done so for IBM, XL Capital, UBS and, most recently, Microsoft. The latest project encompassed 20 destinations in 15 countries, covered over the course of four trips.

"Production", says Pratt, "with all its intricate details, is like assembling puzzle pieces to form one big beautiful picture. Over and over, I find it to be a fun challenge."

Something to look out for in the near future: Robert Grischek’s striking new images for Motorola (agency: Goodby, Silverstein).

    MISSION PHOTO PRODUCTION

Mission Photo Production offers complete photo production services, locally and around the world. The company is headed by British-Swiss Mary Pratt, who has been living in New York for over 10 years.

Mission Photo Production recently produced an extensive Mercedes R-Class shoot in Florida, with photographer Markus Bolsinger. It was all top secret at the time, and kept a security team from Germany busy around the clock. The pictures are from a “making of” editorial that ran in German GQ Cars.

Other recent jobs include two with Peter Funch: one for Axe in New York (agency BBH New York), the other for Sony in Los Angeles (agency Fallon Minneapolis), followed by spectacular aerial shots of Chicago by Frank Meyl for Degi (agency Philipp & Keuntje Hamburg). Mary tells us she can’t wait to see the results from a fashion shoot for John Varvatos photographed by Danny Clinch – look out for a rock star chillin’ with his son in the September issue of all the glossies.

    MISSION PHOTO PRODUCTION

Mission Photo Production is a full service photo production company based in New York. They are multilingual, which makes things a lot easier when working with international clients locally and around the world.

Lately they've done a lot of travelling: a campaign with Tom Nagy for XL Capital (McCann-Erickson Zurich) took them to Iceland, London, Puerto Rico, Copenhagen, California, Valencia and Finland. For DaimlerChrysler they worked with Markus Bolsinger in Los Angeles, the Nevada desert, Wyoming and Florida.

But they work locally, too: Robert Grischek shot a campaign for German InStyle magazine (MECH Berlin) on the Brooklyn Heights Promenade, Danny Clinch worked on a series of Nokia ads (Grey), and Neil Wilder photographed the New York Stock Exchange's new CEO for UBS (Publicis Zurich).
