Doug Bruce is best known for his intimate psychological portraiture evoking the language of cinema. His photographs explore a space between past and present resulting in work that feels both contemporary and familiar.
Bruce was born in Paris and lived until his twenties in Africa, Italy, England, Spain, and France. He graduated with honors from the School of Visual Arts in 2005.
Bruce's photographs have appeared in Another Magazine, Vanity Fair, W Magazine, The Times, Dazed Digital, Homme+, Korean Vogue, Harper's Bazaar online, Glass, Tank, Sherman's Travel as well as having his work featured in Art Culture, and the permanent collection of The Chosun Museum in Kwanju, Korea. His advertising clients include Levis, Rag and Bone, Citibank, Earth Train, and Def Productions.
