Michelson Studio
Michelson Studio is located between Washington Street and the
west side highway, one block north of West 11th Street. Overlooking
the Hudson River, the space is architecturally progressive in a
fifties/sixties motif with furnishings included in the Permanent
Collection of the Museum of Modern Art.
Natural light bathes the studio from early morning til sunset
through the 50 eight foot windows offering unobstructed views east,
south, and west over the Hudson River.
The interior of the space is covered with light maple wood with a
semi-gloss coating. The walls are stark white and covered with art
ranging from 18th century Venetian paintings to photographs by Joel
Peter Witkin. An industrial theme vibrates through the studio:
riveted steel bathrooms, massive hinges, vault doors
and a poured concrete kitchen.
Michelson Studio provides full equipment rental, digital rental facilities and a digital location van equipped with a 15kw generator. All furnishings and props are provided at no additional charge.
