Jeff Dahlgren is the vision behind Fortis Photo, a Chicago-based commercial studio specializing in food and beverage photography.
A persistent love and curiosity for the culinary arts, coupled with extensive travel, Jeff embodies a broad perspective which enhances his storytelling abilities—an asset for any editorial or advertising campaign. His lighting creates a natural environment that breathes life into every picture and coupled with exceptional food styling creates a truly mouth watering collaboration.
Jeff’s images have appeared around the world for clients such as General Mills, Kelloggs, Kraft, Lidl, Nuts on Clark, Simply Chocolate, The Republic of Tea, and US Foods. His list of beverage clients also run deep, with national brands Archer Roose, Boston Beer, Dogfish Head, Truly and Wine Spectator using Fortis Photo for their imaging needs.
A boutique operation, Jeff and Fortis Photo is flexible to execute single and multi-day productions in an efficient, economical way. In addition to top quality photography, Jeff’s goal is to make every photo shoot the easiest part of any campaign. On shoot days you can experience his industrial yet comfortable space, built out of an old foundry just a block from the Chicago river. His 4,000 sq ft photography studio with an extensive prop collection was renovated with shooting in mind!

His 4,000 sq ft facility (formerly a zinc foundry) houses an extensive prop collection, is well designed and was renovated with shooting in mind.
In this Spotlight, Jeff is showcasing some work from a recent project. “We’re lucky no one had to shake salt out of their hair after this cover shot! It was such a fun and fluid process working with the JBS Foods creative team. We had a great time mixing things up, from menu ideas to lighting, props and surfaces.”
