Rhys Hopkins is a passionate traveller having visited over 40 countries. He embraces the opportunity to document people and landscapes, culture and society.

He recently had the opportunity to work with The Camping and Caravanning Magazine on a road trip through Devon and Cornwall, to shoot a feature celebrating 75 years of Volkswagen Type 2 Campervans.

He is based between the UK and the Middle East but welcomes the opportunity to shoot anywhere.

Capable of working seamlessly as a self-shooter or managing a crew, regardless of the size of the production team, Rhys takes a clean, cinematic approach to his work, which has appeared in award winning campaigns, on magazine covers and in printed editorials, across media platforms, billboards and public transport.

With a naturally creative eye for detail and an intuitive understanding of client's needs, Rhys can contribute to a project, from conception through to delivery. Rhys has been shooting people and lifestyle for more than 12 years. He has a relaxed but professional manner on set, enabling him to maintain a positive and efficient working environment and helping to get the best out of the talent and crew he directs.

Whether it is shooting stills or directing film, he works closely with the creative team to ensure he is well prepared and the final delivery communicates the vision and purpose. He will always seek to balance candid, editorial and cinematic accordingly.

Recently, Rhys has been busy carrying out more campaigns for Ritz Carlton, as well as working frequently with Sofitel, Anantara and Intercontinental Hotel and Resort Brands across the Middle East.

Rhys Hopkins has been working with corporate clients in government, industrial, medical and charity sectors for over 10 years across the UAE and Middle East.

He frequently works on campaigns for Ma’an, an Abu Dhabi-based social authority and other recent clients include Abu Dhabi Airport, Recapp/Veolia, Abu Dhabi Port Authority, Yas Holdings and Abu Dhabi Municipality, for whom he has created media libraries, ad campaigns and social media content. Rhys is ready to take clients anywhere in the world.

Rhys's passion for photographing people and lifestyle has become his artistic endeavour. When preparing to photograph a scene, he takes a methodical approach to framing, lighting and art direction, before directing subjects with a relaxed manner that enables a candid and natural result.

His analytical nature thrives on the challenge of breaking down lighting conditions: he will work hard to create an ideal setup that will showcase an image that is a balance of cinematic and editorial flair.

Rhys has recently been busy with global hotel brands including Barcelo, Dusit, Sofitel, Anantara and Ritz Carlton. He works closely in accordance with the client and individual branding guidelines to be certain he delivers what is needed, but he will advise, recommend and contribute to the creative process as necessary, whilst ensuring that his work will certainly impress and stand out.

Rhys is a photographer and filmmaker from Wales and based in the United Arab Emirates. With over 15 years experience in the industry, he has a particular passion for interiors, architecture and landscapes, working directly with high end clients and brand agencies.

This particular genre of work has taken him across the country and region, working with real estate developers, boutique food and beverage outlets and global hotel and resort brands including Hilton, Dusit and Barcelo.

Rhys has an intuitive understanding of clients' specific needs and the purpose of the frame being captured as well as the styling of the environment. He takes a methodical approach to a shoot, typically using a combination of natural light and shadows, timing, digital blending and colour grading.
