Mark Brumell
Mark is a UK based photographer and has been working in the industry since 1991.
He remembers taking his first pictures on holiday in Italy with his Mother’s Kodak point & shoot at 11 years old. Getting the pictures back and remembering being really excited by the idea of image capture and it has remained since.
“Few things remain constant in our lives; we get into them, we grow out of them, some are fads, tastes and fashion. For me riding a bike, eating great food, being told a good story and making images are the only things that still bring the same level of joy as they did when I was a child.”
Mark started assisting in 1991, working for a commercial photographer on packaging, industrial and portrait photography for Vent Axia, Jaguar and British Airways. He went back into education to study Visual Communications at Bristol and started working as a graphic designer with Dyson in 1997. Then moving to London a year later, freelancing as a designer offering photography as another skill at various creative agencies until he took a full-time job with CADA Design Group for four years. In 2004 he went freelance and designed the identity branding and photography for the, then start up clothing brand Finisterre; also taking on more photographic clients.
Mark shoots people and places and has worked with Coca-cola, Microsoft, the BBC and Channel 4.
More recently, Mark has spent extensive time in the Peruvian Amazon, living with and documenting the daily life of a local family, work that now forms the basis of his talks and exhibitions, including presentations & an exhibition at Apple’s London Head Office. His artistic portfolio, including the recent ongoing project ‘Dancing the Unseen’, continues to expand into fine-art print sales. Mark is also an enthusiast of classic Saabs and older Porsches, and brings the same eye for engineering and narrative detail to his automotive interests.
