Advertising & Documentary Photographers & Directors
Todd Antony is a London-based photographer and director originally from New Zealand. His personal work centres on little-known communities and individuals whose lives sit just outside the familiar frame, blending documentary observation with a cinematic approach to light, colour and atmosphere. He is drawn to portraiture as a form of quiet advocacy. Empathetic rather than didactic, allowing viewers to meet the subject on their own terms.
His commercial work spans global brands including Qatar Airways, Samsung, Mastercard, Sony, and Audi, with campaigns produced across four continents.
His personal projects have been recognised internationally, with selections for the Taylor Wessing Portrait Prize at the National Portrait Gallery in 2021 and 2025, Sports Photographer of the Year at the 2025 International Photography Awards, and multiple editions of Lürzer's Archive 200 Best Advertising Photographers Worldwide.

Born in New Zealand, but now based in the UK, Todd Antony’s work dances on the edge between documentary, portraiture and poetic storytelling. In his personal projects, he immerses himself in little-known subcultures from around the globe. Ordinary people who lead extraordinary lives in their own unique ways. His “Cholitas Escaladoras” series captures Bolivian women climbing vast mountains in traditional dress, while “Dekotora” probes Japan’s extravagant truck culture, and most recently, the wild sport of ‘Buzkashi’ in Tajikistan.
These self-driven bodies of work allow Antony to shape narratives purely from curiosity, exploring identity, resilience and the poetic contradictions of life.
Alongside these personal explorations, he maintains an extensive commercial and conceptual advertising practice. Represented globally, he has worked for clients including Sony, Samsung, Shell, BBC, Audi, and Qatar Airways, amongst many others. His images often carry the same sensitivity he applies to his personal work. A visual consistency that allows brands to tap into narrative and emotion rather than mere aesthetic polish.

Title: Buzkashi Battle
Location: Tajikistan
''Buzkashi, meaning “goat pulling” in Persian, is the wild, brutal sport of Tajikistan and its neighboring countries. Think polo - but with a headless, eviscerated goat instead of a ball, hundreds of riders, and no formal teams. Rooted in the nomadic cultures of Central Asia and played for hundreds of years, riders, or chapandaz, battle for control of the goat while dodging rivals (and the occasional whip or elbow) in scenes reminiscent of a Napoleonic battle painting. The rule book is less of a book and closer to a couple of sentences, with the match often overflowing into the fleeing crowd (something I can testify to first hand) games can last for hours until one rider hauls the goat across a hay-marked goal line in the dirt. Once a pastime of the steppes, Buzkashi is now a beloved spectacle at festivals and major gatherings such as weddings.''

Title: Dekotora - Junichi Tajima
"For more than 40 years, Japanese truck drivers have been piling on lights, patterned fabrics, and other over-the-top adornments to their work trucks, creating moving masterpieces covered in LEDs. This tradition of decorated trucks or “Dekotora” originated from a 1970s Japanese movie series inspired by Smokey and the Bandit titled Torakku Yaro or “Truck Rascals.” In its heyday there were many thousands of dekotora drivers. Junichi Tajima, the subject of the image, runs a waste disposal company in Japan, but he is not a regular truck driver. He is one of an estimated 600 remaining dekotora drivers in Japan, owns three extravagantly decorated vehicles and is the head of the ‘Utamaro-Kai’, the national association of dekotora truck drivers.
When I asked him what "Dekotora" means to him, he said: ‘After 40 years, "Dekotora" is my children, my brothers, my family’."
