Ed Cunicelli
For more than 30 years, I have been based in the Greater Philadelphia area. I’m equally comfortable shooting on location and in the studio environment. I’m as excited by one-on-one shoots as I am with large-scale productions, and have extensive experience in both. I love the collaborative aspect of commercial and editorial photography and have been really fortunate getting to work with so many talented graphic Designers, art directors and editors, who all have made me a better photographer.
Photo Portraiture is a visual storytelling medium, so learning about subjects —who they are, what’s important to them, their surroundings is an important part of my practice. I believe that photographing someone is a way of communicating with them and about them.
I’ve felt a connection to the work of Painter Andrew Wyeth since I can remember. My childhood home had a book of Wyeth paintings where I came across, “Wind From The Sea” and I remember being mesmerised by the muted tones and sense of movement both of which created this heightened sense of loss or longing for someone or something. As a photographer, I’ve had opportunities to photograph the Wyeths —Andrew, Jamie, and Caroline—and to be in some of the places where Wyeth paintings were created, to see paint on their studio floors and imagine which paintings were being made.
One of my career-long projects has been working with and photographing members of many Indigenous communities throughout the North and Southwest. Working in these communities makes me feel alive and connected. I am profoundly grateful for the relationships I’ve gained and the lessons learned.
I am relatable, responsive, and accessible, but also relentless in my pursuit of the right shot. I produce images that are rich, creative, complex and genuine and I’m always focused on my clients’ goals. I would welcome an opportunity to work with you.
