Daniel Kellenberger's story started in Hong Kong in 1980, where his parents from Appenzell were stationed — a childhood between two very different worlds. After his Matura, he headed to Scotland to study film at the Edinburgh College of Art. While he started out wanting to direct, he quickly realized his true obsession was the camera and the power of a perfectly composed shot.

Back in Switzerland, he worked as a cameraman and editor before photography won him over. He loved that a single image let him be author, director, and lighting designer all at once. Going freelance in 2006, he spent years shooting for major Swiss newspapers and magazines.

After 12 years co-managing a studio, he returned to solo work in 2022. Today, from his studio in Stäfa, he focuses on cinematic portraits of actors, artists, and athletes, as well as landscape and architecture — work that recently earned him a place among Lürzer's Archive's "200 Best Photographers" worldwide.
