DAVID MITCHENER
Advertising photographers
"I am an Australian based photographer, specialising in food and drink, hotels, and interiors. I studied photography at RMIT University, Melbourne, and Brooks Institute of Photography, California.
I’ve lived and worked in both Copenhagen and New York, and my craft has found me travelling extensively throughout Australia and Southeast Asia on advertising commissions and many hotel assignments.
Recent projects include the amazing Barai Spa in Hua Hin Thailand (just pre-COVID!). Since travel has been largely impossible this year, I’ve shot several local Melbourne hotels including the refurbished Crowne Plaza hotel, and tackled the new frontier of photography for several wonderful local landscape architects. Winning the Architecture and Interiors category of the Spotlight Awards recently was a real honour. The image – from a villa shoot for Six Senses Resort Con Dao, is one of my favorites, for it’s simplicity and sense of calm – which I think sums up the resort."

Title: Six Senses Con Dao, Ocean Villa Living Room
"This shot was taken as part of the initial pre opening shoot for Six Senses resorts, and the Indochina Land company, who built the resort.
It is an image of one of the gorgeous ocean front living rooms in one of the villas, which look out across their own private pools to the South China Sea.
Just a short flight over from Ho Chi Minh City, the beautiful tropical island of Con Dao is quite close to the equator - which made for a pretty hot and sticky couple of days shooting at the not quite finished resort.
For this particular shot, I wanted to be there very early in the morning, to capture the sunlight streaming into the space, as I felt the hard shadows would accentuate the simple clean lines of the architecture.
Not a lot of styling was required, as the fairly minimal, uncluttered design is an important part of the relaxed feel of the resort, and I wanted to stay true to that aspect of the design.
I used my trusty Phase One medium format camera for the shoot, which involved me dragging the large, heavy Pelican case up and down the long beach in the heat between shots as none of the paths were finished!
Needless to say, shooting resorts is rarely as glamorous as actually staying in them!"

Nik Epifanidis
Australia
Nik is a Melbourne-based photographer working in interiors/architecture, lifestyle, portraiture and more recently beauty & fashion.
"Interior design and architecture projects are not created overnight. The process can be long and frustrating and is subject to many considerations. Creativity sometimes has to be sacrificed in favour of practicality, budget and client requests. At the end of the day, the finished project stands as a testament to this long but satisfying process. You need to engage a photographer that understands the process as much as the final vision if you are going to capture the essence of your project.
Having worked alongside Interior designers and architects for many years has enabled me to develop the skills and the understanding to be able to capture and deliver this final vision."

Hugh Peachey
Australia
Hugh Peachey is a highly-awarded photographer and director with over 15 years' experience in the advertising industry, in both photography and video. Hugh has worked as an international photographer with some of the biggest clients from around the globe including Nike, Adidas, The Australian Navy, AFL, Swisse, Tennis Australia and Cottee’s to mention a few. Amongst the many awards Hugh has achieved over the years, he has also been selected by Lurzer’s Archive on three occasions for the Top 200 photographers worldwide.
Hugh is always in search of something else, a hidden truth, an inner light, a beauty nestled beneath the surface. Hugh is able to engage and grab a quality others can’t necessarily, which often means he can get a bit closer to someone’s inner truth and hopefully their X-Factor. Hugh is spurred by the challenge of photographing people and conceptual advertising ideas that challenge the mundane and which in turn present a wry, contrary or even comedic aspect to his work.
Hugh is fortunate to own his own Melbourne studio which has meant he can continue to shoot in these unprecedented times during the Covid pandemic. Continually searching for new safe ways to conduct a shoot, Hugh decided to incorporate live streaming for clients unable to attend a recent AAMI brand campaign. This innovative set up meant they could experience the shoot and watch the images as they come up as they are being shot from anywhere in the world, which was equally beneficial for the creative team as well as the clients, as they could promptly give feedback during the shoot without being on set.
