Summer Season in South Africa seems to be going longer each year. April-May is one of the best times of year to visit South Africa whether for photo production or for holidays: The light is not as harsh nor the wind as strong as during peak summer, there are less tourists to contend with and the days are a bit shorter  - meaning that for golden hour chasers, a 4am start and 9pm wrap is not necessary.

Steel clients look set to make the most of this with a busy few months ahead, but the team have already enjoyed a summer working on some great projects:

Dillon Buirski is a South African-born director/DOP with 12 years' experience in the photo and film industry.

This has seen him work with photographers including Ben Weller, Matteo Montanari, Boo George, Sam Robinson, Laurence Ellis, Jo Metson Scott, Tom Craig, Jason Hetherington, Simon Winnall, Mei Tao, Michael Schnabel and He&Me.

Clients include Jack Wills (UK), Esprit (Ger), Lindex (Nor), Oakley (USA), Brooks Brothers (USA), River Island (UK), Next (UK), Vogue Bambini (Italy), Mamas & Papas (UK), Tommy Hilfiger (Europe), Boden (UK), Marks & Spencer (UK), and Primark (UK). 

Highly-awarded photographer Antonia Steyn has made a name for herself in the fashion and advertising industry. With a background in portrait photography, Antonia is able to bring characters to life in her images. Her exceptional ability to capture mood, movement and tone sets her apart as a photographer. Her work is characterised by a bold style with acute attention to composition, narrative and subject matter.

Her list of awards includes the Absa L’Atelier Merit Award, the Vuleka Art Award, and the Media 24 Photographer of the Year. Untitled (Eugene Terre Blanche) forms part of the Sasol, Oliewenshuis and South African National Gallery permanent collections.

Based in Cape Town, she has shot in London, Bangkok, the Maldives, and many other locations spanning the map of Africa. International clients include Nike, Coca-Cola, Babolat, Adidas, Taj Maldives, Siemens, Orange Mobile, Lux, and Mitchum, to name but a few.

Portraiture, lifestyle situations and beautiful light are the three things that excite Gareth Hubbard most about photography.

An instant hit with everyone he meets, Gareth loves interacting with new people; a fact which he finds is right up there with the best qualities photography has to offer.

With an impressive list of clients including Panasonic, Bon Aqua, McDonald's, and Edwin, in the words of this talented photographer: "Pull in, say howzit, and let’s shoot!”

Ilse Moore is renowned in South Africa as an underwater fashion, fine art  and maternity photographer. Her work has been featured in several arts and culture, lifestyle and fine art magazines as well as numerous fashion and culture blogs around the world.

Ilse was a guest photographer on the first season of 'Africa’s Next Top Model' and her work has also formed part of ad campaigns in Istanbul and the USA.

One of her ongoing projects is a visual collaboration with a local Spanish music and dance theatre production, RECUERDOS, in which the dancers are the subject of her exhibition prints and give performances via film projections on stage.

As an artist, Ilse likes to explore water as a symbol that nurtures the psyche, be it positive or negative, and much of her work takes on an ethereal, sometimes surreal approach to the inherent qualities of water.

Christof van der Walt is a Cape Town-based commercial photographer noted for his ability to adopt and adapt to diverse briefs across the spectrum of photography.

His most recent clients include Mercedes-Benz, Renault, Virgin Active and Nike.

Christof is most often found in nature, capturing its beauty to bring a client's brief to life, but is as comfortable in the studio as he is in the wild. Living with his family in the beautiful Cape Peninsula, Christof shares his time off between his two sons and wife Adel.

Based in Cape Town, Outlandish offers stills, TVC and film production services in and around Cape Town.
