Budapest: Tomi Deak
"Man’s best friend.
12 years ago I visited a dog shelter in Budapest to document dogs waiting to be adopted or found by their owners.
As I walked through the passage in front of their cages, they all got excited, barked and jumped – trying to convince me to get them out of there right that moment.
After a while they got used to my presence. I could make portraits reflecting deep emotions, like sorrow of being separated, fear of uncertain future; and attitudes, like patience and hope.
What can you read in those eyes?"

"Spontanous, timeless, real. Freedom deeply rooted."
Images published in National Geographic in the 1970s highly influenced Tomi Deak's style. He spent his childhood between urban and rural environments, a situation that has helped him observe and appreciate his subjects from a distance.
Latest assignments include an annual report for Syngenta, a portrait for the Magazine of the University of Berkeley, and photos advertising Budapest office buildings for GLL Real Estate Partners.
Tomi loves mountains, the seaside, nature and people with rich personalities. He recently turned his lens to fashion photography.
